Devon Landscapes- Dartmoor at Daytime

In this post is a collection of photographs i have taken on Dartmoor in the day time.

I think black and white photos work really well on dartmoor as the contrast of the ground and rocks look good in black and white. I like this photo as everything in the photo looks so still and not alive.

This photo again looks good in black and white. It looks really good as the sun is trying to break through the cloud so it gives an exciting effect to the photo.

For this photo, instead of using a tripod i placed the camera on the rock to take the photo. i placed the camera so it would get the surroundings around the camera which is the rocks but also get the surroundings in the distance. I used the black and white setting to give a mysterious effect to the landscape.

This photo is nice as it combines what happens on Dartmoor, with the typical vegetation to the cows but it also shows the car park with cars in, this photo looks good as the car park looks out of place on Dartmoor.

In this photo a used a very low angle, to give the effect that the wrong is at the top of the picture. It looks nice as it has a rock right in front of the camera but then one on the hill to top it off.

I like this photo as it shows that not only humans can go on dartmoor to relax, animals can too. It also has quite a picuresque back drop.

I used the macro setting in this photo to try and show the vegetation in great detail. Which is has done but also in the process has blurred the backround a little. This makes the photo one of my favourites.

Devon Landscapes- Dartmoor at Dusk

This is a collection of pictures that i have taken on Dartmoor.
I took this photo to show the typical housing on Dartmoor, mostly farms as like this one, the photo also shows a barn and an old stone wall. This helps show how long Dartmoor has been around for.

I like this photo as it shows the rocks of Dartmoor on the peak of the hill. It shows different light levels from the sun shining on the foreground.

I took this photo in a car park close to Haytor. It shows the pink clouds from the sunset, but a main feature in this photo is the unusually placed trees on the hill in the distance.

This photo shows a crow on a pillar in a carpark near Haytor. It looks unique but also fits in with the Dartmoor Landscape.

This evening picture on Dartmoor shows one of the rocks, as it stands at the top of the hill. You can also see the vapour from an aeroplane which adds a more relaxing effect to the photo.

I like this picture as it shows one of the rocks on Dartmoor amongst the typical vegetation that you will find pretty much anywhere on Dartmoor.

This picture is a lovely picture as it shows a part of Dartmoor at Dusk, showing the sun about to disappear. I like this picture as it shows how picturesque Dartmoor is.

Devon Landscapes- Steps Bridge- Dunsford

This is a collection of pictures i took at Steps Bridge in a more rural area of devon...

This is the main bridge at Steps Bridge, guiding the road over the rapid river, this picture looks unusual as the trees look as if they are sheltering the bridge. The photo has the idea of light and dark, the darkness in the build up to the bridge then right on the peak of the bridge, that is where the lighter part of the picture is, where the eye is drawn too. The the photo has a lot of detail as the picture is filled with interest.

This picture worked really well, the sun shining through the tall trees. I had the camera on Auto Mode for this as it could adjust itself to the sunlight. This photograph again has the idea of Light and Shade. The sun is breaking through the trees causing the light effect to the photo. this makes it looks unique.

With this photo i exposed the camera for longer. I adjusted the setting on the camera with a slower shutter speed, this made the water have a froffy effect to it. The moss on the rocks also adds more colour to the photo.
The photographer that inspired me to do this was Tony Howell, if you follow this link you will see his picture in which mine is similar to.

This picture i took at Steps Bridge in a more rural area of devon, the picture shows the B&B amongst the river and green land. It has a lot of potential as it is a well known rural area of Devon.

This picture hows many different contrasts, this is why i like this photo, as it has the bridge which is an old stone design but then contrasts with the water flowing down the river and the green leaves.
